*Idea for tri-fold card from Beate Johns
First thing is to gather your supplies.

Your dark suede cardstock is cut 4.25x11" and you will also
need a piece of pattern cardstock 3.5x3.5 and also a small
1/2" strip. You will need a piece of white cardstock 3x3 and
then just a small scrap.

Shake up your silver Glimmer Mists very well, until all the
mica glitter at the bottom has been disappeared.
Spray your cardstock lightly. Only spray a few times as you
want a light sheen that will not overpower the card.

Then you will want to iron your card, which will dry the
Glimmer Mist and also flatten your cardstock which normally
buckles a bit when you mist it.

Isn't this little pink iron the cutest? It is from
Heidi Swapp and we no carry them in our store.
I hope you can see the beautiful and yet sublt sheen of the
cardstock?

This next step is optional if you do not have a Cuttlebug
machine. I just got one a month or so ago and really love
how it embosses.

If you are not familiar with the Cuttlebug machine, it is a
die cutter and embossing machine. We do not sell them in
our store but I am sure you can find one in your area.
You will need an embossing folder like this one.
.

Place the card front only inside the embossing folder and
sandwhich in between the Cuttlebug plates.
Run this through the machine by cranking the handle.

Here is how it looks, and it is even prettier in person with
the Glimmer Mist.
The one step I did not show earlier was the scoring to
create the tri-fold. It is scored at 3.5" on one side and
then 4" from the other.

You will need a piece of pattern paper about 3.5x3.5" which
you will cut an oval from the middle. Also cute an oval from
your brown cardstock which has already been done in the
previous steps.
I am using our new EZ Cutter pen with a self healing matt.
You can use almost any template that you already own and
this template that I used the small oval from, came in their
kit. We sell these in our online store.
This system gives you a great results without a lot of
investment. I do recommend that you tape down your
cardstock/paper when you use the knife.

Now take your Giga Scalloped oval punch and slip the piece
you just cut, inside the punch and center inside the opening
and punch out.
Whala!

Doesn't it look nice glued to the card front?
Now let' do some stamping! Stamp the drummer boy onto the
3x3 piece of white cardstock and the boxed saying onto
scrap. I like to use Jet Black StazOn as it is very black
and dries instantly. It also will not bleed if you use wet
products to color with.

I just used regular colored pencils to color this cute
little boy with. You of course could use many other mediums
including watercolor pencils, or chalks, etc.....
A little artist trick I learned a long time ago is to
outline your colored image with a light gray marker. What
this does is soften the edges and make your image pop off
the white paper. You can do this no matter what you used to
color your image in with.
You can now glue your focal image behind your opening, glue
your boxed image to the 2nd part of the tri-fold card and
then stamp the saying "Merry Christmas from our family to
yours" on the 3rd portion of the tri-fold card using Cloud
White VersaMagic ink. The stamping looks very clear in real
life... I see it looks blurry in this photo but it is not.
Now let's make that cute layered flower thingie on the front
of the card. I am using a silk flower, and poinsettia from
the Christmas bubble, waxed linen, and mini star brads.

Take you mini star brad and wrap your waxed linen thread
around it. No need to knot it as the waxiness of it will
hold it in place.
Then you can place the brad through the layered flower and
poinsettia and spread out the prongs.

Now take a skinny paintbrush and use the end to curl up the
ends of the waxed linen. Too cute!!
I love how this looks.

The last few steps were to glue a strip of pattern paper to
the right side of the card and then attach your decorator
poinsettia.

We made this little card at our last workshop and it was a
big hit. The colors are unexpected for a Christmas card and
that is what makes if fun!

I hope you will try one of these easy tri-fold cards
yourself.
