Spinner Twister Cards Class by Melissa Baldwin

Adapted from a live online class.

These
moving card is made from our new Twister die cut cards for a
new twist!

Supplies;
Twister die cut cards (you can find these at the web-store
in the "Bare Essentials" section)
Circle punch or cutting system to create a cardstock circle
that will fit inside the cut out window in the card.
thin cord and decorative ribbon
tape
stamps, inks and general paper crafting supplies

This is how our die cut Twister Card come... with a square
cut window that pop outs, and slits die cut on each side of
the square
The way this card works is that you punch out the die cut
square and you can stamp on it then turn it and insert the
corners into the die cut slits, and it will look something
like this....(I used a yellow square so you could see it
better)
You will need to punch or cut two circles from cardstock.
These circles measure 2", and the square opening is 2.25"
Stamp images on the punched out circles... one on each
circle.
This will be the image on the back side of the spinner
I decided to take my colors for this project from some of
our new May Arts ribbon. Orange, green, and brown are very
fashionable right now.
There are, of course, many...many ways to color in your
stamped image. I am going to use watercolor pencils for my
card, and the first step is to color the image with a light
hand like this.
Then go back and add shadows by shading certain areas with
the same color... I also added pink for some rosy cheeks.
We are now going to blend all our colors together. I
like to use a Dove blending pen as you have more control...
and less water than a brush or water brush... although those
work well too.
This is how the image will look after the watercolor pencils
have been blended.
Here are both circles stamped and colored, and I also added
gray marker around the images... to make them pop!
Let's STAMP some more! I used our Flower Power on the front
of the card using TSS Dye ink; Tangerine, Chocolate, and
VersaMagic Spanish Olive.
Now you will need to cut some white string to a nice length
to work with... about as long as the height of the card.
You can use just about any kind of "string-like" thing...
floss, cording...
Place glue on the back of each circle. I like to use my
Dotto glue, or Yes glue
Glue the string between the two stamped circles.
Just like this!
From the front of the card slide the top string through the
top die cut slit, and then the bottom portion of the string
through the bottom die cut slit.

This is what it looks like inside the card
Put a little glue or tape to secure the string and trim the
string
I covered up the string and die cut slits with ribbon...
thin strips of cardstock works just as well
lay out the ribbon the way you want it and then miter the
corners by cutting from the inside corner to the outside
point.... do that for all the corners.
Glue the ribbon around the opening
Ribbon looks great... although I have to say cardstock is
easier to work with.
Do the same thing for the outside window.
The inside of the card will show through the front so I cut
a rectangle of light papaya puree for the inside of the
card and stamped my sentiment below where the die cut window
is.
Whala! Here is your finished card!
So you are probably wondering where the Spinner action comes
in?! Try this.... before closing the card spin the circle
part around about 10 times and close the card real
quick..... then open the card and the circle will spin
around! Cool Beans!! So when you are sending this card so
someone... spin the circle around and around, close the card
real quick and place it in an envelope. Then when the
recipient opens the card it will spin around for them, and
bring a smile to their face and they will be amazed at how
clever you are!!
Here is another example of a spinner card I made...can you
tell I love the Flower Power set?! And I combined that with
our new "Day In Paris" and "Inspired Thank You" set. I used
cardstock here instead of ribbon for the framing and stamped
on the cardstock after I had mitered the corners.
