February 2008 Stamp Club Workshop

by Melissa Baldwin, Owner www.TheStampingStudio.com

Don't live close enough to attend the monthly workshops at The Stamping Studio?  Now we have brought the workshop projects to you!

This month we are making 3 Valentine themed projects perfect for the upcoming holiday.  So let's get stamping!

Let's start with a delicious Covered Lollipop project.

Stamp on white cardstock using a couple images from the Mini Rounders #RSSSM13 set.  I used the words "Love" and "Friends".

Take a 1" circle punch, turn it upside down to center the stamped image and punch out.

You will do this for both images.
Inside the stamped images take the lip image from the Kissing the Frog #RSSBS27 and stamp using Brick Red Distress Ink.

There is a lined image for the lips, so stamp that over the red lips using the lined image and black ink.

Take a 1/2" strip of copy paper and stamp the saying from the Collage Hearts #TSS178 set on it with the black ink.

I used the Gig scalloped oval punch on the red cardstock, and the smaller Mega scalloped oval punch on the KI Memories pattern paper. You will need to of each... one for each side of the lollipop.

Glue all your layers together.

.

I bought some lollipops from the dollar store for my project.
Glue the layered pieces on each side of the lollipops.

Place glue in the middle of the stamped strip of copy paper and glue around the stick of the lollipop.  Cute and yummy!
Let's use our new Chandelier set to make a cute Valentine card!

Let's start out with white cardstock and stamp a background using the chandelier and black StazOn ink.  This is my favorite black ink pad!
I used my Super Jumbo square punch with white cardstock here.  You can also just use your paper trimmer as well, to cut the square. Then stamp the saying "You light up my life" on the punched square.
Clean your chandelier stamp off as we are going to change colors.  This time we are going to use Colorbox Que pad, Pink ink on a white rectangle. Matt that onto Medium Razzleberry cardstock.

Matt the punched square with a slightly larger scalloped punch square in black.  The punch is a Mega scalloped square.

We just received this self-adhesive felt ribbon in from Queen & Co. so I wanted to play with that a bit.  This pink heart design is 2.7" wide which was too wide for this design, so I trimmed it in half lengthwise so it is a bit skinnier.
I attached the felt ribbon near the bottom of the card front.  Just take off the liner and stick it down.

Now you can adhere all the other layers to the card.
A chandelier is always sparkly... so let's use some rhinestones to make that happen on our card.  I am using the rhinestones from Prima's "Say it in Crystals" sheet.  These are also self-adhesive and easy to apply.

I only need 6 rhinestones for the card, so I trimmed those from the scrolls.

I snipped the rhinestones apart cutting off any of the plastic that keeps them attached together.  Then just stick them down onto the chandelier. Pretty and sparkly!

Our third project is one you can make for that special person in your life, or you can also use it as a thank you card for a friend depending on what you stamp inside.
We have some great new stamps that we just got in, and one of them is the beautiful "Botanical Heart" #RSSMB20.  I am going to use that stamp as a background on my light suede cardstock using White Cloud VersaMagic ink.

This is a nice subtle background that almost gives you an illusion of lace.

The other new stamp set we are going to use is the Forever in my Heart #RSSMB24 set. On a 2" white square stamp the solid heart using Antique Linen Distress ink.
Here is a close up of that.
Now use the detailed heart image with black ink over the first stamped image. Very pretty!
We are going to make a nice layered background for our stamped heart. Here I have a 3.25 black square, a 3" red square, and then a 3" square cut from our new lace cardstock.  I love that stuff!
Adhere these all together and this is what you come up with.
Let's add a little sentiment to the bottom of the card using black ink.
Glue the layered pieces to the top of the card.
A little ribbon always gives your cards a punch of color and design.  This one I knotted around the card front and had it overlap the layered piece.
Some layered flowers with a brad is the finishing touch.

The inside of the card is also a great place to stamp not only a saying but a subtle white heart.

Happy Valentines Day everyone!
