| Hi! And Welcome to the CD Case Shaker Card
class. (What a mouthful!) If you like storing your unmounted
stamps in empty CD cases like I do, you probably have a stash of these
cases laying around your studio as well.
I love it when I can use something that I have on hand in a new and exciting way, and that is what this project is all about! Plus, these turn out so cool that you will want to make them for everyone you know! (They will think you are so clever!) Nice self-portrait hugh?! |

So here is what your basic CD case looks like. |
| .The first thing you need to do is open the case up and take out the black insert that holds the CD itself. | ![]() |

There will be a gap on the inside hinge that will need to be filled so that your shaker items will not fall out. So I just used some Fun Foam that I bought at the craft store, cut two strips and layered one on top of the other and glued in place. You do not have to use fun foam for this step, how about thick cardboard, or foam tape. I am sure you have something on hand to use. |
| This is what it looks like closed. | ![]() |

The next thing we will work on is the background of the card. I cut a piece of what cardstock approx. 4.75 x 4.75, and that should slip into place where the cover of the music CD would normally go. This should lay flat when inserted |
| Now it's time for the fun part, Stamping! Stamp up a background as you would like. I used VersaMagic ink pads in Mango Madness and Pink Petunia, along with our Flower Power and Invitation stamp sets. | ![]() |

This one I am making into a birthday invitation. Black StazOn ink works great when stamping over chalk and pigment ink. |
| Now place your stamped cardstock into the front cover slot and glue down. | ![]() |

I decided to add some flowers inside the shaker box to give it a kind of 3-D look. I wanted the flowers to but cut from the pattern paper, so I stamped the flowers on the reverse side the pattern paper and cut out. |
|
Here is what they look like cut out from the pattern paper. |

I also wanted to add some micro beads to the center of the flowers. The supplies I used were Tacky Tape, regular size hole punch, and of course micro beads. |
| Punch out three circles from the Tacky Tape sheet. | ![]() |
![]() |
Remove one side of the tape and attach to the center of the flower. |
| Take off the remaining paper from the tape, then pour your micro beads over the tape. I like to work in my Funnel Tray. | ![]() |
![]() |
Then press the beads into the tape so that they stick goodl. |
| Pour off the excess and your have these wonderfully embellished flowers | ![]() |

I used Rose Opaque and Silver micro beads on my flowers.... Pretty! |
| Then use pop dots or pieces of foam tape to attach your flowers on your stamped background. | ![]() |

You now have a 3-D look to your card! |
| Now we are ready to "fill" our cards with wonderful shaker elements. I used buttons, and some shrink plastic charms. | ![]() |
![]() |
Close it up and shake!. |
| Now we need to make sure out shakers won't escape! So apply a think band of E6000 glue around all the edges and close. Wipe off any excess glue with your finger. | ![]() |

We need to hide our fun foam, so cut a strip of pattern paper and glue to the front of the card covering the fun foam completely. I really like to use "Yes" glue for this kind of project as it spreads easily with your finger or a paint brush and is made for gluing to plastic, wood and even glass! |
| Looking good! | ![]() |

The next step is to cover the sides and back of our CD card. I used a piece of pattern paper 4.75 x |
| I first wrapped the paper around the CD.... | ![]() |
![]() |
...and used my fingernails to crease the paper. |
| Then completely cover the backside of the pattern paper with Yes glue, and glue in place. The pattern paper will overlap both the left and right sides of the CD case. | ![]() |

And here is the finished project!
